Final Youth Night & BBQ

Monday 04th September 2017

Our youth cricket scheme, sponsored by HNH, came to a close on Friday 18th August. The scheme ran over the Summer for 12 weeks, and on average we had between 30 to 35 children attending on Friday nights. On the final evening we also had a BBQ for both the kids and their parents even though the heavens opened just as we started serving the food!

The led coaches this year where Stephen ‘Duck’ Donnelly and Lewis ‘Prso’ Adair to whom the cricket committee and the club are grateful to. It was clear that kids enjoyed the various games and drills as they all seemed to enjoy what was on offer. Special thanks also goes to Ewan & Emma Scott who attended every Friday night, and to the other coaches/helpers who attended on various evenings.

Clearly, youth cricket is the life blood of Woodvale Cricket Club, and it important that we continue to build on the Youth scheme with the prospect of entering under age teams in the NCU again.

Next year the Cricket Committee will be focusing on improving youth cricket in association with local primary schools and secondary/grammar schools. We will also run another Youth scheme on Friday nights and details will be posted near the time.

We hope all the kids enjoyed the cricket and we hope to see you all next year!
