Chairman's Luncheon - 3rd June 2017

Tuesday 11th July 2017

I’m delighted to say that my luncheon was better supported than ever this year with forty five members, friends and guests joining me for a great afternoon’s craic. Luckily we even had cricket to watch although several heavy downpours did punctuate the 1st’s game against Armagh.

Everyone commented on how fantastic the ground was looking especially the addition of the two new ‘ball stop’ nets and all the new sponsor’s boards. Given all the ground improvements that we’ve witnessed it was particularly pleasing that William Humphrey MLA was in attendance. William has been crucial in securing the necessary funds for all of our groundworks, which is something that we can’t thank him enough for. His cricket loving party colleagues Peter Weir and Fred Cobain also came along to enjoy the famous (or infamous) Woodvale hospitality. Similarly it was great to have quite a few of our Sponsors in attendance and enjoying a much deserved glass or two of vino.

Naturally there were many old stories recalled and a few new ones created as the afternoon progressed. My thanks to Cecil Robinson for looking after a very successful ballot and to Kenny Rea for providing the food.

When we retired downstairs to watch the cricket we were treated to a superb run chase by the Woodvale batsmen, which resulted in a thoroughly deserved win. Pretty much the perfect day!!

Thanks again to everyone who came along and I hope to see you back at Woodvale very soon.
